Going on a cruise can make for a very relaxing, yet very exciting vacation. All you can eat, all you can play, loads of relaxing…what more could you ask for in a vacation?
Unfortunately, there are times when this bliss is brought to a screeching halt due to an injury received aboard.
If this happens, we’ve compiled a list to help you navigate the process.
Cruise Ship Injury Checklist:
- Make sure your injury is reported to crew members and documented.
- Be careful to accurately state facts and realize that what you say could be used against you.
- If, for some reason, you don’t feel well enough to provide an accurate written statement, don’t do it until you feel up to it. Never allow anyone to make a statement on your behalf.
- Be your own investigator. Gather the names and contact information of any other passengers or crew members who might be able to assist you later in pursuing a claim against the company.
- Report, document and investigate promptly, making sure that the standard procedures of the company are followed.
- Typically, there’s only a 6-month deadline to file a claim, so it would be in your best interest to contact a maritime lawyer or cruise ship injury lawyer as soon as possible.
